Dear Parent or Guardian,
Results from the 2015 spring Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests are now available, these will be distributed at our first parent teacher conference Oct 21 and 22 or you may contact your student's school counselor for results. We want you to know how proud we are of your children. Our students and teachers have worked hard to reach new, higher standards. They also responded very well to major changes in the assessment program:
1. The assessments represent the first time students were tested on new academic standards for English and math. The new standards raise expectations for learning in Missouri to meet our goal of preparing all students for success throughout their school years and beyond.
2. Also, for the first time, assessments for grades 3-8 were administered online.
3. The 2015 tests set a new baseline for student performance in Missouri. Please note that these test results cannot be compared with results from previous years as these are new tests with different learning expectations.
New academic standards have also brought new definitions of the four proficiency levels: below basic, basic, proficient and advanced. Families should remember that the 2015 MAP test proficiency levels are based on different academic standards.
Assessment is one way we ensure we are meeting your child's needs. We use assessments - at the classroom, school, district and state levels - to make critical decisions about instruction, interventions and support, and district policies.
We are committed to ensuring that all children in our district are prepared for success, and we look forward to starting the new school year with you and your student.
Mr. Brad Pollitt, Superintendent of Sedalia Schools
