Tryout weeks are approaching soon - right after Spring Break! DANCE BROCHURES containing details and tryout clinic registration are available in the front office and posted on our team webpages at Sedalia200.org. But, it's time to get your physical-related paperwork taken care of NOW.
- Physicals must be dated after February 1st of last year to be valid. (Physicals are valid for 2 years)
- ALL dancers and cheerleaders will need the Pre-participation Documentation EVERY YEAR (so turn in NOW).
- Check with the S-C Athletic office BEFORE tryout week if you need insurance coverage. This has to be listed with policy number on the Pre-participation Documentation form to be valid.
- **IMPORTANT--These medical documents must be processed BEFORE tryout clinics!** Bring your forms to the front office at SCJHS or SCHS BEFORE Spring Break!

April 6th, author Tiffany Jackson will be coming to the High School for 3 assemblies.
Students and Staff have the option to come to three book clubs in the library during ROAR. Information is listed below with flyers if you want to share it with students. More information will come out periodically as we get closer to Tiffany's visit.
Students that read each of Tiffany's books and attend all 3 book clubs will be able to eat lunch with Tiffany on April 6th and receive a treat from me!
Each of the novels are available in the library for checkout. We have several copies of each novel.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meets Friday mornings in the commons from 7:50 to 8:10am. There is a devotion, and usually, music during meetings. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The nomination form is on your ROAR page. Complete one form for each person nominated and submit by the 20th of each month. Winners will be announced at the end of the month. If your nominee is not selected, make sure that you submit a new nomination for the next month.
Come to the library to sign up for the Missouri Reading Circle. Read 14 books this year and get a prize. Must read 14 books by May 1st.
AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS AS OF March 10, 2020
Need a laptop? Midwest Computech has a scholarship for a new laptop available for a SCHS senior who shows financial need and merit. Application is available in the counseling office and must be received by Midwest Computech no later than April 1, 2020. If you have any questions about the laptop, see Mrs. Ellis or Mrs. Foster.
Are you planning to major in business? Do you have at least a 3.0 GPA? Do you have a good work ethic and have financial need? Then, stop by the counseling office for the Steak ‘N Shake scholarship application and requirements. Deadline to the counseling office is Monday, April 6, 2020.
The Bothwell Foundation has a $500 scholarship available for a graduating student who is pursuing a health-related career. You must be accepted into an accredited post-secondary educational institution and be enrolled in a health-related course of study. A personal interview may be requested. Stop by the counseling office and pick up a scholarship packet or go to http://brhc.org/foundation/scholarships. The deadline to submit applications to the Bothwell Foundation is May 1, 2020.
If your parent is an educator/employee with the Sedalia School District and a member of SCEA, then come by the counseling office and pick up an application for their $1,000 scholarship. Deadline to the counseling office is by 4 p.m. on April 1, 2020.
The Sedalia Lions Club has two (2) $500 scholarships available for seniors who show financial need, have held leadership positions, have good attendance, and have helped the Sedalia community. Stop by the counseling office and pick up an application. Deadline to the counseling office is 3:45 p.m. on April 10, 2020.
Missouri Valley College is offering two $10,000 scholarships for incoming freshman majoring in English. Stop by the counseling office for more details and an application packet. Application is due May 15, 2020.
Is your parent/guardian or grandparent an alumni of Missouri Valley College? If so, then go to www.moval.edu/alumni/alumni-legacy-scholarship/ and look at the application & specific details for the Missouri Valley Alumni Legacy Scholarship. It is a $500 competitive scholarship for a senior who meets all requirements.
If you are planning to be a Special Education teacher or teacher therapy (occupational, speech, or physical) in a school setting, then you need to stop by the counseling office to pick up an application for the West Central Area Local Administrators of Special Education Scholarship. This $200 scholarship is due April 3, 2020, to Mr. Pyle at Central Office.
The Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri has an exciting scholarship opportunity for seniors. Beginning this year to help celebrate BGC’s 60th anniversary, they will be offering (2) two $500 scholarships to high school seniors who are/were former members of the Boys & Girls Club. Application deadline is April 1, 2020.
The William H. (Bill) Simon Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to Catholic students who are in financial need for the purpose of attending an accredited college or university of the student’s choice. The $1,000 per semester scholarship is to assist the student in meeting educational needs. Stop by the counseling office to pick up a scholarship application. Deadline to submit the application is March 31, 2020.
The John L. Warack Scholarship Fund helps Catholic students who are in financial need to attend the University of Missouri, Columbia. The scholarship is designated for Catholic students who are, or will be, actively involved in the St. Thomas More Newman Center. The award of $1,000 per semester is to be used to cover tuition, fees, and/or room and board. Stop by th counseling office to pick up the scholarship application. Deadline to submit the application is March 31, 2020.
The Women Legislators of Missouri are offering graduating young women to apply for one of their $500 college scholarships. These 8 awards will be based on leadership, academics, and community service. You must complete the 500-word essay and complete the application at www.myscholarshipcentral.org. Deadline to submit your application & essay is March 31, 2020.
Are you a senior female in the top 30% of your class? If so, stop by the counseling office and pick up an application packet for the Women’s Service League scholarship. Return your completed application packet to Mrs. Ellis by April 3, 2020, for this $500 scholarship.
The Leaders of Tomorrow scholarship is now available. Alpha Gamma Sigma at the University of Missouri, Columbia is awarding (2) two $500 scholarships to incoming male students who will be attending the University of Missouri, Columbia. If your career goal is for a skilled trade, check out Ranken in St. Louis. There is a scholarship for Smith-Cotton students funded by an S-C Alumni. This scholarship will be awarded for two years ($10,000 per year). Look for the Ranken Tech--Benner/Green Learning for Success Scholarship in the scholarship drawer for more details and to apply. Deadline to apply is June 1, 2020.
If you are planning to attend State Technical School, then stop by the counseling office and pick up information about a scholarship for Smith-Cotton students funded by an S-C Alumni. Look for the State Tech--Benner/Green Learning for Success Scholarship in the scholarship drawer or go to www.statetechmo.edu/scholarship-application/. This scholarship will be awarded for two years up to $10,000. Deadline is March 15, 2020.
The Local Scholarship applications are available. This application is for the Edna Snell (for education majors) and Chris Egdorf scholarships. There are specific requirements for each scholarship. Stop by the counseling office and pick up a scholarship packet. Deadline to submit application is Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
If you are planning to attend school and are looking at a skilled trade, then you need to go to https://www.mikeroweworks.org/scholarship/and complete the scholarship application. There are several requirements but you have until March 31, 2020, to complete the scholarship applications requirements.

If you are planning a career in automotive, heavy duty, or collision repair work, then go to https://www.automotivescholarships.com/apply_online.cfm and apply for one of many scholarships through the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. These scholarships do not have a GPA requirement. Deadline to submit your application is March 31, 2020.
Do you have a 3.0 GPA? If so, Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) scholarship application and specific requirements are available in the counseling office for their $750 award. Scholarship preference is given to students going into the field of education, but consideration is given to other candidates as well. Applications must be mailed to Trisha Voellinger, ADK Scholarship Chairperson & postmarked by April 11, 2020.
The PB&J scholarship awards students who have experienced challenges in their life that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but still have the drive to succeed. This $500-$1,000 non-renewable scholarship is open to all graduating seniors who plan to attend either a 2-year or 4-year college in the Fall of 2020. To apply, visit http://bit.ly/pbjscholars2020. The deadline to submit an application is May 31, 2020.
Are you a senior girl who competed in golf, has an overall outstanding academic record, involved in community service and has leadership experience? Go to http://www.mogolf.org/mwgea-scholarship/ for more details and application. All application documents must be in the same envelope and mailed to MWGEA in Jefferson City by March 14, 2020.
If you are planning to pursue a four-year degree in an agriculture related field, then you need to go to http://www.agfuture.org/scholarships. You can also pick up a document which explains the details for this $3,200 scholarship in the counseling office. Deadline to apply online is March 11, 2020.
If you are planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree in an agriculture related field of study, then you need to stop by the counseling office to pick up an application packet for the Central Missouri Agriculture Club’s scholarship. This is a one-time scholarship with a varying dollar amount from year to year. If you applied for the AFA scholarship, you are automatically enrolled for this scholarship. Application is due to Tod Gerlt at US Bank by March 11, 2020.

The Patriot Guard Riders is offering four scholarships to Missouri students who are sons or daughters of those who fall within the following categories: (1) Those who have given their lives in the line of duty, including both military and first responder (police/fire), (2) Those honorably discharged veterans who have passed after their term of service, (3) Those veterans or first responders disabled in the line of duty to the extent that providing an advanced education cannot be easily realized. These non-renewable scholarships consist of one award in the amount of $2,000 and three awards in the amount of $1,000 each, to be awarded to four deserving Missouri students to help defray costs at any accredited institution of higher learning. Premier Climate Control of Sedalia has a $5,000 academic scholarship available for a student pursuing an AAS in HVAC Technology at State Technical College of Missouri. The Voiture 333, 40&8 has two (2) $500 scholarships available to students planning to attend a vocational technical college, a university or a college in a program of nursing. Pick up an application packet and specific guidelines in the counseling office. Completed applications and documentation are due to the address on the application by the second Saturday in April.
