Cheerleading tryouts run through Thursday (3/21) in the HS gym from 4-6pm.  Please fill out an online application and make sure your physicals are up to date! w

Any current sophomore/junior that wants to learn about Leadership Sedalia, please plan to attend a meeting on Thursday, 3/21 during seminar in the PAC.

 

Sedalia Girls Softball League registration forms are available in the front office.

Applications for the final round of FIT Internships this school year are due to Mrs. Harvey TODAY (3/20).  

 

Juniors and Sophomores:  If you are planning to take a dual credit course through State Fair Community College (English Comp I, Public Speaking, US History to 1877, World Civilization, National Government, US History Since 1877, or a course on SFCC campus) in the Fall of 2019 (first semester of next school year), then you should consider applying for the dual credit scholarship.  This scholarship funded through the Sedalia School District Foundation is solely for Smith-Cotton juniors and seniors who are taking a three-hour dual credit course through SFCC.  Applications and guidelines were sent to student's school email accounts.  If you have any questions, please see your grade level counselor or Mrs. Brock.

 

 

Juniors, according to MO state law you are required to have at least one meningitis immunization after your 16th birthday.  Please bring proof of this to Nurse Michelle by May 24th.

 

Fellowship of Christian Students meets every Tuesday and  Friday before school at 7:50 in the Commons Area. Anyone is welcome to join!

JUNIOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

Central Missouri Electric Cooperative offers $50 cash awards to students in grades 9-12 who receive an “A” in both Math and Science.  A drawing of seven winners is held each quarter.  Entries may be submitted by high school students whose parent/guardians are members of the Cooperative.

The Central Missouri Electric Cooperative also has a Youth Tour program for juniors who are interested in watching history come alive while exploring the museums, memorials, and monuments of Washington, DC.  The all-expense paid trip requires juniors to complete the Youth Tour application and submit a 500-1,000 word essay or a 3-5 minute video on the essay topic, “The Power of Membership:  In a Cooperative, you are a member/owner, not just a customer/consumer.  Explain the difference this relationship makes.”  Applications are available in the Counseling Office (Scholarship drawer) and the deadline is March 1, 2019

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the U. S. This scholarship is for junior students who plan to enroll in college in the fall of 2020 and are an American citizen or have obtained legal permanent residency.  If your junior is interested in this scholarship opportunity, he/she should visit the scholarship site at . AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS AS OF February 13, 2019

 

Are you a senior female in the top 10% of your class?  Then, stop by the counseling office and pick up an application packet for the Women’s Service League Scholarship.  Return your completed application to the counseling office by April 4, 2019.

 

Sedalia Kiwanis Club has the William A. Schien Scholarship available.  Pick up a packet with details and application in the counseling office.  Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2019.

 

 

The Local IAFF FireFighter Memorial Scholarship is available.  This $500 scholarship is for a graduating student who is pursuing a career in the Fire and/or Emergency Medical Services.  Scholarship application is available in the counseling office.  Returned completed application to sedalialocal103@gmail.com or by mail to Local 103, PO Box 1592, Sedalia, MO 65302 by April 5, 2019.

 

Are you planning to enroll as a full-time student at a state-accredited institution pursuing a degree or certification in Civil, Structural or Agricultural Engineering?  How about majoring in construction management, construction technology, architecture, or other construction-related skilled trade?  If so, stop by the counseling office and pick up an application for the Septagon Construction academic scholarship with guidelines.  Applications must be delivered or postmarked by 5 p.m. on March 31, 2019.

 

Hammett, Bellin & Oswald Law & Justice Scholarship is available for the 2019-20 school year.  If you will be a freshman at a college/university, can provide proof of enrollment at that college/university, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0, then you need to go to http://hbolawfirm.com/law-justice-scholarship/ and complete the application for this $750 award.  Deadline to apply is May 31, 2019.

 

If you are planning to attend school and are looking at a skilled trade, then you need to go to https://www.mikeroweworks.org/scholarship/ and complete the scholarship application.   There are several requirements but you have until March 28, 2019 to complete the scholarship applications requirements.

   

Are you a legal dependent of an eligible State Farm associate, agent or retiree?  Go to https://www.statefarm.com/about-us/community-involvement/community-grants/state-farm-foundations for more information.

 

If your career goal is for a skilled trade, check out Ranken Tech in St. Louis.  There is NEW scholarship for Smith-Cotton students funded by a SC alumni.  This scholarship will be awarded for two years ($10,000 per year).  Look for the Ranken Tech--Benner/Green Learning for Success Scholarship in the scholarship drawer for more details and to apply.  Deadline to apply is June 1, 2019.

 

Are you a senior interested in majoring in education?  Are you a member of Educators Rising?  If so, stop by the counseling office and pick up a list of scholarships available to you.  Deadline is April 3, 2019.

 

 

If you are planning to attend Ranken Tech or State Tech, go to their website and apply for the Benner/Green “Learning for Success” scholarship available for SCHS students.  See Mrs. Brock if you have more questions regarding this NEW financial opportunity.

 

Are you interested in a career in public relations?  Check out the PRSA Foundation Scholarships at https://www.prsafoundation.org/scholarships-awards/.  Deadlines vary!

 

Check out the Chicano Organizing and Research in Education scholarship for undocumented students of Chicano or Latino descent who are high school seniors and enrolling in an accredited college/university.  Go to http://www.ca-core.org/que_llueva_cafe_scholarship_program.

 

Visit https://www.studentscholarships.org/scholarship for several different scholarship programs.  Some deadlines are getting close so check these out today!

 

 

Are you planning to teach math, science, or special education?  Do you want to teach in Sedalia?  Sedalia School District has a NEW scholarship available for Smith-Cotton students.  Stop by the counseling office and pick up specific details about the Tiger Legacy Scholarship worth $2,000/semester for four years.  Deadline is March 29, 2019 at 3:45 p.m.

 

Premier Climate Control of Sedalia has a $5,000 academic scholarship available for a student pursuing an AAS in HVAC Technology at State Technical College of Missouri.  For specific details and application, stop by the counseling office.  Deadline to Premier Climate Control is April 30, 2019.

 

UCM also has institution scholarships available through https://ucmo.edu/mocents.  Be sure to watch the individual scholarship deadlines.

 

Have you dreamed of becoming a chef?  Sole Door Cooking is offering a $500 scholarship.  This scholarship requires an essay submission emphasizing the importance of a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle.  Visit https://soledoor.com/scholarship.  Application deadline is June 30, 2019.

 

Are you an athlete?  The Big Sun Scholarship of $500 could be yours.  Essay topic and other details are available at http://www.bigsunathletics.com/.  Deadline is June 19, 2019.

 

If your parent or guardian is a current member of the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative, then you are eligible for one of eight (8) $500 scholarships to be awarded in Central Missouri (4 will be awarded in Pettis County).  You must have a 2.75 GPA and a 21 on the ACT.  Applications and specific details can be found atwww.cmecinc.com, or hard copies can be found in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 1, 2019.

 

 

 

Missouri Valley College has a Drive 45 Scholarship available.  If you are interested in attending Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO, then stop by the counseling office to pick up more information about this scholarship.
