Message from Sedalia 200 regarding positive COVID-19 test

Sedalia School District 200 has been informed that two people, one at Smith-Cotton High School and one at Parkview Elementary, have tested positive for COVID-19. Each person is in quarantine at home. Through contact tracing, it was determined that there were no high-risk contacts with either person, so no others are required to quarantine.
The district has reported these cases to the Pettis County Health Center, as required by current Missouri law.
One of the subjects was absent for five days before testing positive. In the other case, with our mandatory mask protocol, students and staff members who encountered them through the day are deemed to be at low risk for exposure.
The health and safety of our students, district families and staff members always will be our primary priority. We remain in contact with the Pettis County Health Center to ensure we are following the best protocols to provide a healthy environment for all.
