COVID-19 exposure in S-C boys soccer program

A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been documented with the Smith-Cotton High School boys soccer program. To remain transparent with our community, we are sharing this information with all district families. Team members and coaches at workouts on Tuesday, July 21, were at risk of exposure to the virus; as a precaution, we are suspending all boys soccer team activities until Aug. 10, the official start of the 2020 season. Students who participated in boys soccer workouts last week will not be allowed to attend workouts for other sports until Aug. 10. While the mandated social distancing practices our programs are enforcing are helpful in reducing risk, team members and coaches are advised to monitor for CDC-defined symptoms of COVID-19, including:
Fever or chills
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Muscle or body aches
Congestion or runny nose
Sore throat
Newly emerged loss of taste or smell
Nausea or vomiting
If symptoms develop, you are advised to stay home and consult with your health care provider; we also ask you to contact your head coach. The health and safety of our students, district families and staff members always will be our primary priority. We remain in contact with the Pettis County Health Center to ensure we are following the best protocols to provide a healthy environment for all.
