Sedalia 200 unveils new logos, branding
During its monthly meeting on Monday, July 29, the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved new branding and logos for the district.
Superintendent Dr. Todd Fraley led a team of district administrators and school board members who worked with Callis, a Sedalia-based marketing and advertising firm, to determine the new branding standards. The district and Callis teams reviewed data from a survey of district families and staff members that was distributed in the spring; respondents said the previous logo was confusing, because it represented the district, its schools and Smith-Cotton High School athletic teams.
The new district logo features the motto, “Providing the Path of Opportunity.” Fraley told the board, “We are responsible for providing the path of opportunity. … We want to lay the groundwork, the foundation, (to) give our students, our families the opportunity to be successful.” The path is the focal point of the district logo, winding its way to a bright future on the horizon. The logo includes four stars, which represent the four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character.
There is a new tiger head logo, as well as a full-body tiger. The tiger head logomark is the primary logo for each school. The district will seek copyright and trademark protections for the district and tiger logos. The designated colors:
- Gold: PMS 7548 C
- Black: PMS Black C
- White
The designated fonts are Franchise (all caps) for headings, Archivo Narrow Bold for subheadings and Open Sans for listings.
“Callis is honored to be part of this critical investment in developing a cohesive brand for the district and its schools,” said Megan Hartman, Callis president. “This strong, well-thought-out identity and accompanying visual marks will enhance school and community pride and attract families, educators and future leaders that will help our community continue to grow and thrive. As a parent of two children in the district, I am so proud to see school leadership focus on the district’s future and its important role of providing the path of opportunity.”
Fraley said the district would transition to the new branding over the next year or so.
