Smith-Cotton journalists participated in the Rookie Reporters program, a pilot project with the Sedalia Democrat and Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri. Students' stories were published in the Democrat to enhance public knowledge of Sedalia 200 students, staff and events.
