Brennan Scanlon, Boys Basketball Head Coach
Brennan Scanlon has returned to Smith-Cotton High School as boys basketball head coach for the 2024-25 school year. Scanlon was the Tigers head coach from 2014-16, when he led S-C to its first boys basketball conference title in 19 years. In his first stint at S-C, Scanlon had a record of 34-17 with two West Central Conference titles, after serving as head coach at Oak Park High School in the North Kansas City School District.
Scanlon graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette in May 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Before his first tenure at Smith-Cotton, he was head basketball coach at Mexico High School and Elsberry High School; he also served as an assistant basketball coach at Rock Bridge High School, Fayette High School and CMU.
In 2012, he was inducted into the Rock Bridge Athletic Hall of Fame, and during his playing career he was a USA Today High School Basketball All American (1996 and ‘97) and a McDonald’s High School Basketball All American (1997).
