This is Samantha Yewell’s first season as head coach for the Lady Tigers swim program. She previously coached swimming and water polo at Santa Maria High School in Santa Maria, Calif., for 4 seasons. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and took her swimming career to Whitworth University where she got her bachelor’s degree in Elementary & Special Education. At Whitworth, she was also a 10-time All American swimmer, 2-time NCAA champion in the 100 & 200 butterfly, and held the NCAA record in the 200 butterfly from 2006-2012. She was inducted into Whitworth’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. Samantha received her Master’s degree in Special Education from National University in 2013, and has been teaching special education for 15 years. This year, Samantha is looking forward to seeing the growth and improvement of the Lady Tigers swim team.
